MerryBerry blueberry farm is the largest private plantation in Romania with 100 ha established in 2017-2018. It has 68 employes and a revenue (2022) of 3 million euros. The farm is located in the Mija Village of Dambovita County, surrounded by spectacular forests, at only 80 km distance from Bucharest.
From June to August, best varieties of blueberries (Duke, Bluegold, Legacy) adapted to the farm environment generate 1500 tonnes per year (starting with 2024). MerryBerry owns 2500 sqm of total storage capacity operational since June 2020 with facilities for precooling, packaging and cold storage (CA/ULO rooms). Recently, 2 million euro investment in 16 lanes computer AI controlled sorting and packing line with tray sealer machine, automatic palletizer has been achieved.
For the blueberry plantation, the company runs one of the most advanced computerized controller for the right and precise mix of nutrients and water throughout the whole growing season. It has implemented from the beginning strict hygiene rules, bare code scanning for transability, payment of workers and statistics. A lot of certificates confirm the company values and trust such as GlobalGap, GRASP, NURTURE, ISO 22000, Sedex, IFSFood etc.
