PAOLO INGLESE
Full Professor of Horticulture at the Università degli Studi di Palermo since 2000, where he has served as Pro Rector and chair the Courses of “Agricultural Science and Technology and Food Science and Technology in the University of Palermo since 2009. He is also served as Director of the Museum System of the Università degli Studi di Palermo, which includes the Botanic Garden. He has been Member of the National University Council (1997-2006) in Italy for the Plant Science sector. And he is also member of Accademia dei Georgofili; Accademia Nazionale di Agricoltura; Accademia Italiana di Scienze Forestali; Accademia Nazionale dell’Olivo e dell’Olio. He served as President the Italian society of Horticultural Science from 2007 to 2013. Member of the Council of the International Society Horticultural Science (ISHS), and for decades Chairman of the WG on Cactus pear and President of The Network of Horticultural European Societies (NESHS, 2012-2016) Among the founders and General Coordinator of FAO-Cactusnet (International Network for Technical Cooperation on Cactus Pear) from 1994 to 2000 and from 2013 to 2107. Invited Speaker or Key-note lecturer at several national and international Congresses. Component of the Organizing Committee and the Scientific Committee of dozens of National and International Conferences. Chair of Scientific Committee of the 3rd and 4th ISHS Congress on Cactus Pear and Cochenille held in South Africa and Tunisia in 1996 and 2000, also acting as editor; Chair of the Board of the "First SHE - Symposium on European Horticulture" held in Vienna in 2008; Member of the different Editorial Boards of ISI Journals. Scientific Director of Italus Hortus. Invited and key-note lecturer at the University of Davis (California), UCLA (California), Duke University NC; Texas A & M, Kingsville (USA); Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Israel); Chapingo and Zacatecas (Mexico), Universidad de Chile, Chile, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Santiago del Estero and Mendoza (Argentina), ICARDA, (Tunisia); Blonfontein University (SA); University of Bologna, Turin, Milan, Reggio Calabria, Sassari, Ancona, Florence, etcc). Honoris Causa degree (Doctorado in Ciencias Agricolas) assigned by the Universidad de Santiago del Estero (Argentina) in 2022.
