Gheorghe Glăman
Gheorghe Glăman, graduate of the Faculty of Horticulture from Iasi (1968). Doctorate at the University of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences in Bucharest (1994). Production activity (30 years) and 11 years in the state administration. In parallel, teaching in university (1993-2015), full university professor (1998).
Together with 69 horticulturists, re-founded on April 16, 1991, the Romanian Society of Horticulturists (founded in 1913 and banned by the communist government in 1948). He led the Society as president in the period 1991-2022. In November 2022, Professor Florin Stănică was elected executive President, and Dr. Gheorghe Glăman was elected Honorary President. Starting from the year 2000 (the ISHS Council in Cairo), he was appointed the representative of Romania at the ISHS, participating in all Congresses organized by the ISHS during the period 2002-2022. In 2003, was elected as full member of the Romanian Agricultural and Forestry Academy - ASAS (corresponding member since 1997). He is the President of the "Horticulture Section" of ASAS since 2014 (Vice-President, 2003). For the submitted activity, Dr. Gheorghe Glăman was honored with 4 (four) Doctor Honoris Causa titles by the Universities of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Iasi (2007), Timisoara (2010), Cluj (2022) and the University of Craiova (2018).
